Former Assistant Chief Probation Officer now oversees day-to-day operations of ACJC

Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Allen County Juvenile Center has appointed a new Director of Detention to lead all aspects of managing the secure detention and courts facility.

Greg Peters, former Assistant Chief Probation Officer, was appointed to the position by Judge Andrea R. Trevino effective Dec. 18, 2023. Peters has worked at ACJC since 2005.

Prior to being named to lead the center, Peters served in roles throughout ACJC, where he experienced all aspects of the center’s many operations and essential services. His prior roles included those of central control officer, youth care worker, electronic monitoring officer and field supervisor.

“An experienced director of detention is essential to making sure we maintain an environment at ACJC that is both safe and ready to fulfill our mission of rehabilitating delinquent youth,” Judge Trevino said. “Greg Peters has the ideal credentials for this role and he is already putting that experience to work for the children and families we are here to serve.”

In his new role, Peters oversees all day-to-day aspects of the juvenile center’s business and operational functions. Among its many responsibilities, the Director of Detention manages the secure detention portion of the facility as well as its on-site court facilities. Peters is also responsible for the center’s educational, security, personnel and budgetary functions.

Peters is a 2002 graduate of Saint Joseph’s College, where he earned a bachelor’s in Criminal Justice.

“From the very beginning, my career has been dedicated to helping young people who have become involved in the criminal justice system,” Peters said. “I am excited by the opportunity this new role offers to guide juveniles back onto positive paths.”
