Successor will be named in coming months by Governor Braun; serve through 2026

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Allen Superior Court Judge Andrea R. Trevino will step down from the bench later this year to rejoin the private sector. Her last day as Judge will be Sept. 23, 2025.

Judge Trevino has been a part of the Allen County judiciary since 2013, first serving as a Magistrate in Allen Circuit Court and then as an Allen Superior Court Judge following an appointment by Governor Eric Holcomb in 2018. Trevino was then elected to her first full term in 2020.

“I am so grateful for my time on the bench protecting the interests of Allen County’s families and youth,” Trevino said. “I leave knowing I have put my whole heart and energies into helping facilitate better familial relationships and better futures for the children in our community. I approached every delinquency case believing in the importance of balancing community safety with the needs and best interests of the kids who came through our justice system. It is both a tremendous responsibility and honor to be in a position to make such widespread impact.”

Over the past several days, Judge Trevino informed Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Loretta Rush and Indiana Governor Mike Braun of her intention to step down from the bench. Judge Trevino’s successor will be appointed by Governor Braun from a group of finalists to be identified by the Allen County Judicial Nominating Commission.

The timing of that process will be announced in the future by the Governor’s Office. Judge Trevino’s appointed successor will complete the remainder of her current term which ends Dec. 31, 2026. Judge Trevino’s position will also be on the Nov. 3, 2026, general election ballot.

Since her appointment as Superior Court Judge, Trevino has overseen operations and programming at the Allen County Juvenile Center (ACJC), 2929 Well Street. In addition to housing juvenile and family courts, and serving as a secure detention center, ACJC is home to an alternative school program, Allen County Juvenile Probation, and other support functions.

“Above all else, Andrea Trevino is a champion for families and children,” said former Judge Thomas J. Felts, who appointed Trevino an Allen Circuit Court Magistrate in 2013. “Changing lives and building better futures is a calling for her, as evidenced by the initiatives and energy that have marked her time in the Allen County Courts. Our community is fortunate to have had the gift of her heart and her wisdom. She deserves our gratitude for devoting herself to public service and to the families of Allen County.”
While leading ACJC, Judge Trevino placed an emphasis on building community collaborations, enhancing student engagement through the expansion of trade and other vocational training for justice-involved youth, and diversifying mental health and substance abuse treatment options for youth. Among those efforts, Trevino created the Bridges to Recovery program, a no-cost educational initiative designed to support youth and their families and connect youth to community resources while awaiting treatment.

“It is hard to explain, unless you have experienced her work first-hand, how much Andrea Trevino has meant to the kids and families of Allen County,” said Judge Craig J. Bobay. “Most families are blessed to have never experienced a crisis that has brought them to Court. But for those who have, her innovative approach to juvenile issues has been life-changing.”

Upon her departure from the bench in September, Judge Trevino will become General Counsel for Clean Fuels National, a business owned by her husband for over 25 years.

“When I was appointed as the Judge at ACJC, I envisioned spending the rest of my career here. The only thing that could tear me away is a position that provides more balance in my life and more time with my family,” Trevino said. “I am blessed to have been a part of the judiciary of this great State, and although I will dearly miss the many wonderful people I have crossed paths with along the way, I am looking forward to this next chapter.”
